Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Aidan H — 13 Aug 2011
Although MC attains periodically a sense of doomed atmosphere, its studied lack of action and back-to-basics reconstructionism capture the period but not the attention. By refusing to kowtow to such necessities as drama, wide screen location shots and a tangible ending, Reichardt's tragic trudge literally goes nowhere.
Stars for the cinematography and music.
