Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Andrew H — 26 Aug 2011
To start with it's an unusually slow paced film with nobody speaking for the first ten minutes, so you watch and wait while taking in the films scenery. It's set in 1845 where three families with their wagons are crossing the Oregon trail with the help of a hired guide.
After taking a short cut the hired mountain man becomes lost in the dry desert were they run short of supplies. Eventually they come across a native American who is captured and to be killed by Meek, but is reprieved by the families in return for help in finding water.
The film ends abruptly after taking such a long time to get going., but it;s still worth watching.
