"Meek's Cutoff" is a frustrating film, mostly because it verges on the brink of greatness. Michelle Williams and Bruce Greenwood are great as weary Oregon Trail travelers , and the cinematography captures the brutal beauty of the rough terrain.
The film is hurt by a lack of narrative momentum, and an ending that feels unearned.
