Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Eamonn S — 09 Feb 2012
Meek's Cutoff is about the early days of the Oregon Trail and three groups of travelers who hire a guide named Stephen Meek. When the travelers suspect that Meek has gotten them lost they find an indian and force him to lead them to water.
Meek's Cutoff is a film directed by Kelly Reichardt who also directed Wendy And Lucyand Old Joy. Starring in Meek's Cutoff is Michelle Williams who's performance is almost better then her performance in My Week With Marilyn, Bruce Greenwood, who is completely unrecognizable in this film as Stephen Meek and Paul Dano who is not great in this film. I find he's always the character who gets on my nerves. The cinematography by Christopher Blauvelt in this film will blow you away-every shot is beautiful. My only complaint about this film is that you don't get to know the characters and I know that the film is not about that, But I really would have liked that. Another thing about this film that was really good was the score, it was kind of eire and things in the film like the wagon would play into the music which was really cool. This film came out on DVD in September and I just picked it up and it is definitely worthwhile. This film is fantastic-please rent it.
