This groundbreaking film takes an almost naturalist look at a group of wannabe wiseguys trying to get over in Little Italy. Although it contains many feats of professional cinematography, more than a few scenes in Mean Streets feel like a heavily edited documentary.
Strong performances from Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro help the viewer retain interest through the occasional sluggish part.
