Review of May (2008) by Melanie R — 09 May 2012
May, definitely can be compare to other films, but in this crafty artistic slasher flick is like Carrie meets Frankenstein.
May, for a slasher flick that has a plot that actually has a strong fundamental outline to it that is both somewhat original, and that has a purpose.
I for one know how this girl feel to find that perfect friend, despite of your in perfectionist, in May case her lazy eye, and a social outcast.
Performance from Angela Bettis and Jeremy Sisto was outstanding, and great dialogue to keep your view more interesting. However, who stole the show was Angela Bettis, she was really in her character. She creep'd me out, but for some sick reason I think her character is interesting, and somewhat charismatic.
The score was creepy that fitted well with the film.
The setting was great, and in this Drama Horror film you see a growth in a character that you may love or hate. I mean I don't agree with what she's done, but I see where she's coming from.
Yes, the gore-hounds would be pleased with this, those who likes to see body parts, and blood, May would disgustingly please you.
Overall definitely above average slasher flick that starts out like rainbows then turns into a gory haunting dramatic horror; with a great plot that actually tells a story. Great slasher flick.
