Review of May (1936) by Brian R — 26 Nov 2010
INTERESTING movie that has it's problems, but you forget all that because, well, because of the batshit ending. May, in the beginning, could be considered a "Welcome To The Dollhouse" clone, what could have happened after the main character left High School, alone, extremely withdrawn, and slightly quirky.
Well, with May, she's a little MORE then quirky. Why? we don't really know, and this is what brings down May a bit, it would have been beneficial to find out a little bit more of a backstory to find out what made her tick.
Still the movie hums along nicely, maybe a little uncomfortably, til the final act, when everything turns, again, batshit insane. Not since "Audition" have I seen a movie that takes this much of a turn and leaves you catching your breath.
Well worth watching.
