Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Brian R — 27 Aug 2018
Technically proficient navel gazing from the highly overrated Kubrick. As Kubrick marvels at his own costly set design and special effects he omits the most important ingredient: actual characters. As the modern Icarus parable plays out, the film swirls and spins and distract the audience in a thousand different ways.
A cinematic slight of hand from dawn to the future. The icy presentation and a running time may test even the most patient viewer.
