Review of Masculin Féminin (1966) by Andrew R — 08 Aug 2008
The concern here is the way that historical forces, modernity, and commodity capitalism interact with the interior world of relationships and desires. This is a comical and insightful film. largely for the way Godard allows his characters to amble about, only to be interrupted by his jarring intertitles and cryptic pronouncements, and the occasional burst of surreal violence.
