Review of Mary and Max (2009) by Ali K — 30 Apr 2014
An adorable buddy movie, Mary and Max contains the perfect mix of childish whimsy and adult morbidity. The animation alone more than makes up for the slow set up and decidedly tedious story line. Even as the animation depicts an exaggeratedly grim world, it still somehow manages to capture the essence of hope that is so fundamental to the human spirit.
The narration is just icing on the cinematic masterpiece that is Mary and Max.
