Review of Marty (1955) by Adam M — 31 Oct 2007
By far one of the best romantic films out there, certainly better than the stuff Hollywood's been churning out the last decade or so. I love this film because it tells the story of characters who look and act like real people, not glamorous celebraties we always see in film.
Borgnine is excellent in the lead, a shy man whose not much to look at and becoming reconciled to the possibility that he will never find love or romance. For an actor so often cast as a tough guy, Borgnine's performance as a lonely, sensitive man is all the more impressive.
