Review of Marty (1955) by Jeff B — 07 Dec 2010
A solid movie, but ends really abruptly. Also, Betsy Blair is a really awkward actress, which, I guess, works for the role she has, but it's also incredibly hard to watch. Marty is a really fascinating and realistic character though and the melodrama happening around him does a great job of intensifying the pressure put on him.
I just don't understand this film winning Best Picture for 1955. (I haven't seen many movies from that year, but there's gotta be another film better than this.).
