Review of Marty (1955) by Anthony I — 10 Apr 2015
Before he was Mermaid Man, he was Marty. In his search for tomatoes, I give him five fresh ones. Marty is a heartwarming picture. An oldie but a goodie, as they say. It's brings you back to a simpler time, when it was all about what you looked like, and what dame you had at your side.
What's so fascinating about the character of Marty is how far he comes in the span of one night. We see him as a lonely, homely bachelor, reluctantly on the prowl, to finding the love of his life and never letting her out of his sight.
Sure, these days, settling down doesn't always lead to happiness, but I can't say I'm not a sucker for this old-fashioned love story.
