Review of Marathon Man (1976) by Penthesilea G — 13 Oct 2007
One of the quintessential Roy Sheider pictures. I know Dustin Hoffman and Sir Lawrence Olivier were fantastic in it too, but the 70's film noir revival which largely featured Roy Sheider, where quadrophonic mics flanged and phased the ambient sounds of freeways and airplanes in the distance while Roy looked serious and puzzled with a gun in his hand are as near perfection as a tribute genre, or modern film can be.
Amazing cinema. So powerful, and unnerving. Classic.
