Review of Marathon Man (1976) by Tom D — 13 Nov 2013
Directed with strong framing and overall visual identity, but featuring a convoluted story and meandering focus, Marathon Man failed to engross me in its international intrigues and fight against injustice.
Certain motifs are highlighted nicely, but the film never grabbed me, partly because I always felt disconnected from the action. Nonetheless it's a solid watch and for film history and acting buffs, the collision between Hoffman and Olivier only partly lives up to its billing.
