Review of Mandy (2018) by Andres V — 17 Sep 2018
Mandy or The Revenge of Metal.
It is always grateful to watch movies that try to innovate in visual aesthetics, in storytelling, and in finding new visual languages to critic social standards. Mandy pays homages to different terror and gore movies, but also sends a message to the social media, a message of no truce to the wolf dressed as sheep. The speech of Mandy sends a warning to hipsters, to social standards, to the culture of beauty and vanity that says: Real people deserve to exist and deserve real payback for all the damage caused by the lie of colorful lifestyles and the artificial flavoured lie of happiness. Metal is no dead, and wants revenge.
