Review of Manderlay (2005) by Radek C — 04 Mar 2009
Well, I have to say I didn't enjoy this follow-up to a brilliant Dogville as much as I enjoyed the first film. It's a multi-layered story which aptly touches upon so many difficult themes, slavery in particular, but also identity, personal need of belonging to somebody and individual struggle against injustice! Despite the fact I felt von Trier was openly criticizing America's history, I think it presented somewhat objective approach anyway.
