Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Compi24 — 09 Jan 2017
Spearheaded by some of the greatest performance work I've seen from Casey Affleck, Kenneth Lonergan's "Manchester By The Sea" is as much an opus for the suffering salt of the Earth as it is an unrelentingly realistic and meaningful study of loss and trauma in the modern American landscape.
And thought it tends to linger a bit in places and be a little bit too reserved in others, its the performances and tone that ultimately win the day with this film. Definitely worth a look or two.
