Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by Michael H — 25 Jan 2012
So this film and the theories behind it were supposed to destroy the influence of literature and theatre on the fresh young art known as the moving pictures? Keeping drinking the kool-aid, Dziga. Given the choice of the time between this and, say, Clara Bow being a saucy dame, I think the average movie goer would go with the latter.
Not me, I'd take both. If he was working in Hollywood, he could have put in someone like Bow, or Pola Negri into one of these and used some star power to help him out. Can't do that in the Soviet Union, buddy.
Epic fail.
