Review of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) by Charlie O — 29 Aug 2018
How did Hollywood accidentally make a movie THIS good? A pregnant single mom is determined to be responsible for her baby and has the baby BAPTIZED, even, and then the baby grows up to have a baby and have the baby baptized...all set to catchy ABBA tunes! Given the involvement of Trump-bashing Meryl Streep, I thought the movie was going to suck and have lots of political jabs at our beloved president, but I could find no overt politics-pushing in this movie.
Yes, I was ACTUALLY entertained, except every time I had to see Meryl Streep's FACE and just seethe, because it becomes impossible to suspend disbelief and enjoy a movie when all you can think about is Meryl Streep bashing our president, or Tom Cruz neglecting his daughter, Suri, for the sake of his loony toons sci-fi religion, or whatever it might be that ruins the movie experience.
But other than THAT (having to see Meryl Streep's FACE) this movie was so good I was literally moved to tears and believe me, I'm a hard critic to please.
