Review of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) by Rwncop — 06 Nov 2020
Was going to sleep but saw Lily James is in this and decided sleep had to wait.
This prequel/sequel is a great continuation from the first film. If you loved the first film you'll love this as well. I do think the editing and cinematography was slightly better in the first film, but this doesn't make the second a worse experience. In fact, they were able to capture what Mamma Mia! was and developed areas further to create a film on par. Early in the film there was some excellent transitions that fit well with the music portions, more of this please!
I'm happy that all the cast was back as well, with some great additions added on top. At first the story decision for Meryl Streep I thought was odd, but as the story progressed it made sense, I just wished what happened was further explained. Lily James played a young Donna really well, with some of her scenes being my favourite.
I honestly love these two films a lot.
