Jolie is magnificent, the visuals are impressive, and there's an intriguing twist on Disney's usual moral. On the other hand, Maleficent drowns itself deep in a pool of over exposition while at times skipping out on basic explanation, which makes the story's progression feel clunky and fraudulent.
