Review of Maleficent (2014) by Huan P — 31 May 2018
I personally can't believe this movie has a 50%. All I see here is "it lacked of magic and an heroic spirit". Magic is the main thing in the movie and maleficent defeated an entire army just to save the girl she had punished unfairly because of her anger (she admitted it and decided to correct what was wrong, that's amazing enough!) The message behind this movie is that every villain has a start, something that caused that darkness and pain, no one is truly evil just because.
And sometimes life is tricky and we think "ugly" creatures with horns and claws are the real monsters, but in real life, "normal" people end up being the real villains. Mistakes are normal, and it's fair to be angry, especially if someone hurt you, but revenge isn't the answer, and this movie teaches us that the love of a mother (and of course fathers too but in this case it's like a mother) is the most powerful kind of love.
Hate can turn into love, an innocent girl can become evil, and then find peace again, little girls do understand how the world works, and beauty is overrated. We're being unfair, classics aren't better just because they're older.
This ain't star wars, please be objective, finding mistakes is easier than finding perfection.
