Review of Maid in Manhattan (2002) by Stephanie F — 07 Feb 2010
1: I'll always remember this picture less for the actual film and more for the publicity campaign prior to its release. One of the real-life couples featured in the campaign were the two head coaches from the Columbia track team.
Their liason had been a poorly-kept secret and this interview, where they explained how they met, was available on the film's website. Needless to say, it was extremely entertaining and hilarious.
I can't say the same thing for the film. Lopez is awful just as she almost always is. However, it's the the only film I can think of in which Fiennes gives a poor performance. It's a sub-par romantic comedy whose only real saving grace is the NY scenes, however not a one of them is filmed for the first time or with any originality.
