Review of Magnolia (1999) by Snigdh J — 04 Jul 2011
For a film that runs for more than 3 hours, Magnolia is dazzlingly nimble. The credit ofcourse goes to technical brilliance PTA's films possess and the remarkable moving camera that pierces into the lives of characters with an aplomb. But that's a quality all PTA films have. Magnolia however stands out for the richness of emotions it encapsulates. It's a roller coaster of sorts splashed with guilt, remorse, regret & atonement and though some of the content is dramatic, it gels beautifully with the overall escalation of the narrative.Performances are top notch with Hoffman & Reilly leading the pack.
Spectacular.
