Review of Magic (1978) by Sol H — 23 Feb 2010
Does nothing original with the creepy ventriloquist's dummy storyline but I'm to understand this is basically the film that epitomises the subgenre, so I thought it worth a watch.
It's not great. Hopkins adds a bit of quality doing his usual fair but other than that, it's completely predictable (even the bits trying to catch you out by playing on what you'd expect due to it being predictable) and most importantly it's just not that entertaining. Still, passable.
Personal enjoyment: 5/10.
Actual quality as a film: 6/10.
