Review of Magic (1978) by Brett H — 26 Feb 2013
This is a haunting and genius psychological thriller focused on identity and self-perception. Anthony Hopkins stars, strong and subtle as ever; and Burgess Meredith and Ed Lauter bring golden performances as well.
The score is awkward at parts and the direction has a couple missteps; but never have I seen a descent-into-madness film that was so rich and with so many magical moments.
