Review of Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) by Gretchen W — 23 Oct 2016
I watched this movie before I began my "Oscar Watch". What I do (because my opinion matters) lol. I watch all the movies to see if I agree with the nominations and winners. This year along with that there was some controversey about a snub toward Black movies and actor. Creed, Straight Out of Compton, Concussion, Chiraq and Beasts of No Nation with actors and actresses in those movies as well being snubbed. I was going to watch those movies anyway (except Chiraq I am still on the fence about watching that). I had already watched SOC. I havent watched Concussion, but I doubt seeing it would change my opinion..laughing at myself cuz people really care what I think..
I had rated this waaaay before the oscars..so I will add that I liked it...but ill call it snub because it was good but Beasts or Concussion could have went here. I mean..i just didnt see "Oscar" in this.
Isaw the original mad max films in the 80's when I was little kid. I don't remember a whole lot about the films. The films are on my rewatch list and I wish I would have watched the films prior to this one, but I kept reading that this current film was separate from the originals and didn't follow the same storyline. I didn't think it necessary.
I think maybe a person has to be a mad max fan to TRULY appreciate this movie or at least know the basic storyline. With that being said,.
It was decent to me. I LOVE TH. I CAN JUST WATCH HIM.. I really like CT. I thought she really killed it in this movie she is such a great actress. The visuals were stunning. I thought it was beautiful to watch and I was never starved for action.
As far as what was actually the plot.. Well I sorta got it. I missed why everyone looked like an extra in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I know the world ended or something but, that doesn't explain why some people were painted white, branded, wearing masks, skulls, weird costumes and make up. I couldn't figure out what it meant when those warriors sprayed silver crap in their mouth or why a there were weird looking people playing the guitar and the drums on the battle vehicles. Lastly although I truly enjoyed the action, those vehicles must have had some great airbags for people to survive those crazy crashes!
All in all I was entertained from beginning to end.
