Review of Mad God (2021) by Bulgariancritic — 19 Jun 2022
This is by far probably one of the best (if not) the best stop motion movie that probably exists there. The stop motion animation and abominations that were in the movie was just amazing. There is just so much creativity and imagination in creating various tools and scenes that made this movie feel incredibly alive and hellish.
This can be interpreted in a few ways but for me it felt like a post-modern version of Dante's Inferno. The descent of our character into different types of ''Hell's'' with their own cities describing different type of sins was amazing(my interpretation anyway) surrounded by hellish creatures which in my opinion only a really **** up mind can create was just am amazing and very imaginative and creative experience.
The sound and music was also great and fit the piece perfectly (there were a few scenes where the sound effects didn't match the style but they are rare). It also appears that this was 30 years in the making which is possibly one of the longest creation of animated movies that have released (Not forgetting Yuri Norstein and Francheska Yarbusova the overcoat which is by now probably 50 years in the making).
This is a must watch to see a personal hell of the creator and it's overflow with imagination and other **** up creations. It's not for everyone but for the few that will watch it they will definitely enjoy it.
