Review of Mad God (2021) by Jluis_001 — 23 Jun 2022
Usually to say that a film is more style than substance tends to be seen as something negative, and in all honesty that's often the case, but for me Mad God is the opposite, because although it really lacks what you might call a plot, the experience it promotes is everything this film needs to sustain itself.
It's a corrosive vision that demonstrates why stop motion offers impressive resources to present proposals of this calibre and tone.
We're talking about an eerie, dark, sensory journey that should be savoured in that way. A grim trip full of darkness and violence.
I don't want to lock the film into a niche where it's only black and white, but either you immerse yourself in its proposal or you just don't. It's that simple.
Personally I loved it.
