Review of Machuca (2004) by Yassir N — 18 Apr 2009
Fantastic movie about the Allende government in Chile during the 1970's and the brutal U.S.-backed military coup which drowned it in blood and replaced it with the fascist Pinochet dictatorship - all as seen through the eyes of a young student, Pedro Machuca.
The film is not only very well done, but I really enjoyed the stark clarity with which it revealed the class nature of both socialism and fascism.
