Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Jay L — 03 Aug 2014
"Trained To Kill. Left For Dead. Back For More.".
Yeah, I watched it just because "Machete" was a guilty pleasure. Machete: Kills did what was supposed to do, which was to entertain an adult crowd with copious amounts of blood, over the top violence, an unbelieveably cheesy storyline, beautiful women, some nudity and questionable acting. Well the co-creator of The Modern day Grindhouse throwback (The other being Quentin Tarantino) Director Robert Rodriquez (Desperado, From Dusk Til Dawn, The Faculty, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, {Death Proof} (and) {Planet Terror}-(Both in collaboration with Quentin Tarantino), Machete, {Sin City} (and) {Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For}-(both in collaboration with Frank Miller) has dropped the ball a bit on this one, but will hopefully regain balance in his new and hottly anticipated Sin City sequel. Machete: Kills is worth a watch for adults only no doubt.
I have to say though, the cast is stacked, but the cheesy acting, one-liners and campy plot does add up to a bit of a qastw of talent. I guess it was all in good fun though. With Danny Trejo back as Machete himself. Michelle Rodriguez who I don't mind at all, Sofia Vergera provides some terrible eye candy, but balances it out with providing some supremely awesome eye candy throughout. Amber Heard annoys me, and yes Lady Gaga for some reason. Tje most disappointing part of this film was the waste of talent thay Rodriquez sucked out of Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba and last but not least... Mel Gibson.
