Review of Macbeth (2015) by Lenny R — 28 Nov 2016
Even though I have seen Mcbeth performed before, and know the famous passages, I've never actually read the play, so, while I know the basic story, I confess I found it a bit hard to follow at first - Shakespearean English in thick Scottish accents. But then I put the captions on, which helped. It looks great - misty and mucky, with bloody battles and warpaint. Fassbender is spellbinding. Cotillard makes a great (semi) sympathetic Lady Mac. Considine and Harris are damn good too. I thought the way the 'Out, damn spot' scene was staged was a bit weird when it started, but by the end I totally got it.
Makes me kind of hopeful for the Kurzel-Fassbender-Cotillard Assassin's Creed.
