Review of Macbeth (2015) by Colin S — 30 Dec 2016
I was quite entertained by this theatrical adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Spoken just as the play is, but shortening down a few scenes and also cutting away some scenes this movie works pretty well.
Macbeth (Michael Fassbender) is told a prophecy by three witches about how he will one day become the King of Scotland. His wife Lady Macbeth (Marion Cotillard) further pushes Macbeth to take action which leads to Macbeth murdering King Duncan (David Thewlis) leading to a series of events that finds Macbeth getting more and more power hungry and turning into the very Tyrant he fears.
The movie is absolutely beautifully shot. Colors are used to bring about feelings and emotions during scenes its something to behold. Fassbender is great as well in the lead role of Macbeth. The movie is spoken in the Old English like way Shakespeare wrote his plays (just to let ya know no one spoke this elegantly ever) and although silly in some older versions the actors really make it work for them here.
I highly recommend giving this one a look its a very well done adaptation and one not to miss.
