Review of Macbeth (2015) by Brandon W — 29 Jan 2017
Macbeth is directed by Justin Kurzel, and it stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in an adaptation of Shakespeare's play about a warrior that knows about the prophesy about him being king from three witches, but the king was for someone else, and he doesn't like that, which his wife tells him that he'll never be a man if he he's not a king, which trigger him to do things.
I'm curious about this as I'm learning about Macbeth in high school right now, and I wanted to watch this movie for that, and that it's directed by the same guy who did Snowtown and Assassin's Creed, so it looks really interesting.
So with this, Macbeth is a terrific movie that definitely feels like a Shakespearean movie. Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotiillard are fantastic in this that it's no wonder they are also in Assassin's Creed as they work together pretty good.
The writing by Jacob Koskoff, Michael Lesslie, and Todd Louiso remained to be faithful to the adaptation with some quotes from the book, while also making their own that felt like something I read from a Shakespeare book.
This can be hard to understand what they are talking about, but seeing about what it's actually about, it's both simple and complex to understand about this film, and I never seen something like that in years, but then again, it's Shakespeare, so it's not for everyone.
The characters are very memorable, and the war sequences are amazing to look at that is basically Game of Thrones material right there that doesn't feel like there anything that was a computer effect.
It didn't felt like it was trying to be Hollywood's version of Macbeth as it remained to be close to the adaptation, and the action stuff that you see are not much, even if they are done very well and are shot beautifully that sets the battle scene very well.
Now I don't know how faithful it is as my class is on that right now, but Macbeth is a fantastic film from me that is one of the Shakespearean films that I'll rewatch it in the same way that I'll watch Coriolanus when I get a chance to watch that again.
