Review of M (1931) by Brianne S — 18 Jul 2008
I managed to save this for a quite literally rainy day, and it was the perfect morose backdrop. Cleverly constructed, well acted, and absolutely dripping atmosphere, it does deserve to be considered the forefather of noir. Less overtly creepy than I expected, it is great to see Lorre in his earliest days, before he fully became such a recognizable character.
Perhaps I missed the point, because I loved the vigilante justice and was fully on the side of the criminal-underclass-mob.
