Review of M (1931) by Sean D — 21 Sep 2008
When watching older movies, I try to judge it from my perspective now, and what it would be at the time the movie came out. In both cases, this movie turned out to be good, but not great. The beginning built the plot up really well, and the ending was very suspenseful, and Peter Lorre was marvelous (unfortunately, you have to wait til the end of the movie to see what a good actor he is), but the middle drags and doesn't offer much to push the story forward.
If I had to suggest a Lang movie to someone, this wouldn't be it, but I still appreciate the content.
