Review of M (1931) by Christof H — 04 May 2010
Maybe not a 4 star rating for entertainment (though I wasn't bored) but M is amazing considering that it was made in 1931! The production value is great and I wouldn't have believed you if you had told me a movie of this time period would have dealt with a child murderer.
The acting was amazing as well. After watching numerous Hitchcock flicks (none of which I have enjoyed) it seemes that he wanted so much to make a movie like M that he over directed everything and hence the unnatural and choreographed movements of the actors in all of Hitchcocks duds (at least in my opinion, I am sure Hitchcock lovers are up in arms with a statement like that).
Fritz Lang let his actors act and the final product is a believable movie with a quality story, great acting, and a classic preveiw of where cinema would eventually wind up.
