Review of Love & Other Drugs (2010) by Barry S — 20 Nov 2013
"Love and Other Drugs" is a fairly predictable romantic comedy about finding that almost perfect someone. I'm surprised that Pfizer allowed a lot of the drug hawking and schlocking to take place.
If this is the way pharmaceuticals are sold to doctors, we should all be VERY, VERY scared. I think it at least deserves a better rating from both the critics and audience. I enjoyed the solid chemistry between Jamie and Maggie.
The one jarring note which could have been left out, was the Parkinson's meeting scene in Chicago. It seemed like the director didn't really know what to do with it and just stuck it into the movie hoping the audience would find some kind of appreciation for it.
It struck me as being a little too "preachy." All in all a fairly good but uneven effort.
