Paul Dano and John Cusack both provide believable performances, but the lack of any joy in Wilson's music makes for a deeply depressing experience. It may be factual but the movie leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Elizabeth Banks is spot on as usual and yes everyone will hate Paul Giamatti who brings evil to the screen as Eugene Landy. What a shame they completely missed what Wilson's music means to him and his fans.
