As Pet Sounds is the perfect album so is Love and Mercy the perfectly created biopic of Brian Wilson's whacked-out genius . Dano and Cusack are terrific as young and older Brian. The re-creation of the studio sessions of PS and SMILE are pure magic.
Elizabeth Banks (very stunning in an 80's way) plays his second wife Melinda who is Brian's loving antidote to an overbearing father Murry Wilson (Bill Camp is great) bloodsucking shrink Eugene Landy (bad wig Paul Giamatti) and irritatingly short-sighted cousin Mike Love.
This one made me SMILE big time! Best movie of 2015 by a wide margin. (6-13-15).
