Review of Love & Mercy (2015) by Hotfromcauldron — 06 Jun 2015
God only knows what makes man turn nothing into something. A Ford Model T. An IPhone. A song.
And God only knows what one person will have that life altering effect on our journey - be it a guardian angel or a blood sucking leech. One thing I know, Pohlar does a remarkable job bringing Love and Mercy to the screen. Cusack and Dano are both fragile and frank. Banks is a force to be reckoned with. A soundtrack of our lives, a cautionary tale, a love story, a glimpse into the mind of someone suffering from mental illness - a life. Brian Wilson- thank you for sharing your gift and your pain. Twenty five years ago - at the Breeders Cup - at Santa Anita race track - because of the crowds - I shared a table with a shell of a man and an overly protective caretaker. When the caretaker left to relieve himself - the man softened, smiled and told me I’m a Beach boy. Now I finally understand.
