For years, I put off seeing Lost In Translation with the same excuse that I would eventually get round to it. To tell the truth, seeing the poster and trailer, both did nothing to interest me to watch it. By this, I made the assumption I would just not like this film. Assumption is a bitch.

Lost In Translation a difficult culture film from the experiences of two Americans, who simply can't sleep in Tokyo. The odd emotion of both searching characters, is its not really the country thats got them lost, its their life.

Sofia Coppola perfectly displays a love story, that deep down, is really heart wrenching, full of melancholy and blind wandering. Instead of a picture of raw display, Coppola gifts moving and warming dialogue, with a elegant and touching purpose; love is not all the same. The back and forth between the characters puts on a layer of humour, but the undertone slips through the cracks of impressive body language. Its a cruel and real depiction, and entirely more powerful than sets out to be.

Shame on me for waiting almost twelve years to adore this film. Ironically, now I've finished watching, its 3AM, I can't sleep.
