Review of Lost in Translation (2003) by Filius S — 06 Jan 2015
[THIS REVIEW IS A PLACEHOLDER WITH NOTES].
THE GOOD.
+ Great Atmosphere.
+ Excellent Location Work.
+ Well Placed Soundtrack.
+ Good acting from Murray and Johannson.
+ Nice Cinematography.
THE BAD.
- Gets slow / meanders a bit much.
- Falls victim to the "woe is me, I'm white, rich and I can't figure out what to do with my life" syndrome.
OVERALL.
An entertaining that shows some decent chops from Sofia Coppola. If you forgive the rich, white celebrity side of things, it ends up being a more honest love story than 99% of Hollywood rom-coms. Should stand the test of time.
