Review of Lost City Raiders (2008) by Tanya R — 03 Mar 2010
"Made for TV" quality feature.
For some reason, James Brolin can't cash in on some of that "Mr. Streisand" clout and get himself some better roles.
Ian Somerhalder better be careful too... I haven't seen him in a good movie since 2002's "THE RULES OF ATTRACTION" and he's far too talented to be wasting his time on stuff like this. If he doesn't start picking his roles a bit more selectively... he's going to doom himself to the "Direct to DVD" section of Hollywood productions.
The story wasn't horrible for a sci-fi concept but again, we have a movie where ambitions are far greater than budget would allow for. This film is marred by astoundingly bleak special effects and the dialogue could have used a few more passes.
There are some commendable elements to the film and Ben Cross delivers a decent enough performance (considering what he's been given to work with) but this film is a Sunday afternoon matinee with the kids at best.
