More detached and less intimate than their other films, Lorna's Silence is also the Dardenne's darkest picture. Perhaps those qualities go hand in hand. Still, in the cold, harsh world they envision, the Dardennes guide their characters with the greatest sympathy and (often miraculously) find redemption.
