Review of Lorna's Silence (2008) by Giuliana L — 03 Jun 2011
Definitely not a feel good movie, but rather a well crafted existential tale about a woman trying to make her way in a ruthless, cold, calculating world of criminals. Lorna starts out as a tough woman grasping at a better life through whatever means necessary.
As the story unfolds, we see her lunge towards human contact in a kind of self preservation. Her character struggles to deal with the reality that her silence allowed a chain of events that she cannot accept.
Every time she tries to rise up against the indomitable force of the criminal she is working for, I was cheering for her to succeed, all the while knowing that like Sysiphus, she never could.
