Review of Lorenzo's Oil (1992) by Lincoln R — 12 Nov 2007
I have to say this movie has a special place in my heart. I grew up in hospitals watching other kids die from horrible diseases. The idea that a pair of parents were able to buck the system and find a cure was very cool.
There are priviledge issues in this movie that go unaddressed, except in an understated manner. The main couple is wealthy enough to afford all the time to do the research necessary to make these breakthroughs. Otherwise, the acting is superb, medical/hospital settings totally believable, and this movie will rip your heart out of your chest and stomp it to bits, by the way.
