Review of Lord of Illusions (1995) by Alan L — 28 Apr 2008
This one scared me a great deal first time I saw it, its a mix of apocalypse horror, magic as reality, supernatural private investigation, and Scott Bakula. The effects seem fine, and the bloodiness is gruesome enough (number of murdured kiddies makes Hellraiser seem like modest torture porn).
The Jim Jones aspect is what frightens me. The mystery is a knockoff, but the bit magician actors make it exciting.
