Review of Lord of Illusions (1995) by Ala V — 24 Jun 2008
Perhaps for the first time I came round to think of two hours to be a very little running time for a movie!
Barker manages to port one of his short Books of Blood stories into a very intriguing picture. I loathed the D'Amour character--to top it off, Bakula's performance was well out to the point of neurophysics laboratory interest and devolutional natural deselection theories (by crikey, the guy is virtually in for banging!).
What would one expect from a modernized Simon Iff rip-off anyway?
I wish that Barker gets to make cut for the two upcoming Books of Blood ports without much interference from Hollywood executives.
